Grading

MβTK™ stands for Manuka Oil ßeta Triketones.

The droplet graphic presented on a product communicates the minimum MßTK % concentration by GC-FID peak area.

An MßTK grading gives assurance to the buyer that the oil they are purchasing meets the requirements and standards set by MßTK. MßTK represents as a %, the total amount of Manuka β-triketones present in the oil. For ease and reproducibility in other labs, it is calculated from the GC-FID chromatogram based on peak areas.

• When buying an MßTK graded oil you can be confident the oil contains at least the MßTK % value quoted on the label or better.
• Higher MßTK = Lower concentration needed to completely kill bacteria.
